Look no further!
You spent a lot of time, energy (and money!) getting your MSW because you wanted to help change people's lives for the better - now what?
You care deeply about the people you work with, and, their symptoms are severe. Sometimes you worry you don't have enough support to be effective.
You want a supervisor who has worked in similar high-acuity settings and can offer real and effective assistance while you grow as a clinician. Someone who has proven experience treating issues like suicidal ideation, substance use, and personality disorders, who will help you become more effective and confident when treating these concerns yourself.
You've found her!
Catherine became a social worker to change the way we treat some of the most severe mental health diagnoses, especially borderline personality disorder. As a supervisor, she hopes to empower a new generation of clinicians to provide effective and compassionate treatment to a wide range of clients.
She has been a licensed social worker since 2015, when she began her career working in an intensive outpatient program for people stepping down from long stays at the state hospital. As an IOP therapist, Catherine learned how to manage challenging group dynamics and a wide range of diagnoses with rapidly changing presentations.
After IOP, Catherine worked in the emergency room as a risk assessor and a shift lead. This work provided an opportunity to learn effective assessment, de-escalation, and treatment planning skills in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Since 2020, Catherine has owned and operated a successful private practice treating borderline personality disorder and substance use.
In December 2024, Catherine earned her supervisor designation from the Texas BHEC. She is excited to begin her work with LMSWs.
According to the National Association of Social Workers, supervision is "defined as the relationship between supervisor and supervisee in which the responsibility and accountability for the development of competence, demeanor, and ethical practice take place."
As a supervisor, it is my responsibility to provide you with feedback and direction in order to improve your clinical practice. We will include theory, evidence-based practices, and other skills and resources in your development.
Your role as the supervisee is to attend sessions with self-awareness, transparency, and open-mindedness. We will collaboratively identify areas for improvement and create a learning plan to make you the best clinician you can be.
Catherine has professional experience with:
She especially looks forward to working with LMSWs who work with high-acuity populations or in intensive care settings.
